We have the pleasure to invite you to the online workshop on “Competences for research careers in academia and beyond” that will take place on the 28th of October from 09:30 to 11:30 (CET). This workshop is part of the project ‘Knowledge Ecosystems in the new ERA’ commissioned by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation (DG R&I).
While most PhD candidates in the EU plan to stay in academia, the number of academic research positions is limited. PhD candidatesare not always aware of alternative career options and the added value they can bring to research positions outside academic institutions.
This workshop will address challenges related to research careers and present ongoing and future initiatives using a competence-based approach to enhance researchers’ career paths and to facilitate the transition to research positions in other organisations and sectors. One of the initiatives that will be presented is the European Competence Framework for Researchers that is currently being developed.
